By Law 2006-17 Confirm Allowance Paid to Mayor & Council


THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF GORDON
BY-LAW NO. 2006-017

Being a by-law to confirm the allowances paid to the Mayor and Councillors of the Township of Gordon & Allan West for expenses incident to the discharge of their duties as members of the Township Council;


WHEREAS, Section 255(2)of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990 as amended requires Council to confirm that one third of the remuneration paid to councilors in 2003 and beyond shall continue to be considered as expenses;

AND WHEREAS Section 283(7) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 2001 (Bill 111) requires that this be reviewed during each term of Council;


NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE COUNCIL OF THE TOWNSHIP OF GORDON ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

1. THAT in accordance with Section 255(2) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, as amended, the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Gordon & Allan West hereby confirms that one third of the remuneration paid to the elected members of council and its local boards in 2003 and beyond shall continue as expenses incident to the discharge of their duties as members of council or local boards.

2. THAT a by-law considering this allowance shall be reviewed by Township Council at a public meeting at least once during the three year period corresponding to the term of office of Township Council.
