2006-012 US Exchange By-law

THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF GORDON

BY-LAW NO. 2006-012

Being a by-law to set up a formula for the payment of tax notices with United States of America currency.

WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Municipality of Gordon and Allan West has, in accordance with the Municipal Act, raised necessary funds by the means of taxation;

AN WHEREAS tax notices are payable in Canadian funds;

AND WHEREAS landowners who reside in the United States of America have great difficulty in obtaining money orders in Canadian funds;

AND WHEREAS the exchange rate is now in excess of 10 %;

NOW THEREFORE The Council of The Township of Gordon and Allan West deems it appropriate to enact the following-

Landowners paying tax notices with United States of America funds, either by cheque, money order or cash, may use the following formula:

TAX BILL AMOUNT FORMULA Can Tax $/1.05 – taxes in US$

$99.99 or less Payment with U.S. Funds at par

$100.00 or more Payment with U.S. Funds deduct 5 % from total

By-law No. 95-10 is hereby rescinded.

This bylaw shall come into force at the time of its passing by Council
