By-law 2006-004 Appoint Auditor By-law
THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF GORDON & ALLAN WEST
BY-LAW NO. 2006-004BEING A BY-LAW TO APPOINT AN AUDITOR
WHEREAS Section 296 (1) of The Municipal Act, states A Municipality shall appoint an auditor licensed under the Public Accountancy Act; who is responsible for,
(a) annually auditing the accounts and transactions of the municipality and its local boards and expressing an opinion on the financial statements of these bodies based on the audit;
(b) performing duties designated by the Minister; and
(c) performing duties required by the municipality or local board which do not conflict with the duties designated by the Minister. 2001, c.25, s.296 (2)AND WHEREAS the Municipality sent tenders for the services of an auditor;
AND WHEREAS Council have appointed one of the three proposals received, being KPMG , for external audit services for the Corporation of the Township of Gordon and Allan West;
THEREFORE, pursuant to The Municipal Act, the council of the Corporation of The Township of Gordon enacts as follows:
1. KPMG under the leadership of Wayne McDonald shall be appointed as the Township’s auditor for the 2005 external audit.
2. The audit firm hereunder shall receive such remuneration as shall be mutually agreed upon by him/herself and Council as per the proposal for tender and shall hold office until such time as the municipality re tenders for audit services by resolution of Council.
3. The Auditor shall carry out the duties imposed upon him/her pursuant to The Municipal Act and shall submit such reports and carry out such other duties as may be required of him/her by Council from time to time.
4. The Audit Proposal submitted for tender outlining the services and costs for service provided by KPMG shall be “Schedule A” and shall form part of this by-law.
5. This by-law comes into force on the passing thereof.
